The owners of this new build property wanted to add additional outdoor space onto their new home. They were interested in a pergola but because the structure was intended to be fixed to the house, they were concerned about a louvred roof making their interiors dark, so they opted for a glass roof system instead.
They visited our showroom in Leeds to explore the options available to them and decided that instead of a glass veranda they would order a contemporary glass room that would be be fixed onto the rear of their property.
Concealed apex roof
The system itself boasts an apex shaped roof with a supporting transom running down the middle, which positions the glass onto a four-degree pitch sloping on either side. The glass roof itself is concealed externally a 300mm deep ring beam which creates a contemporary aluminium border to give the impression of a modern flat roof system.
Remote control LED lighting
The various roof spars contain LED spotlights which can be operated by an app or remote control to add ambient lighting into the new outdoor space. An excellent feature during dawn, dusk and of course into the night
Glass roof and side enclosures
The fixed roof itself is glazed with 6mm single sheets of toughened glass. The sliding wall enclosures are manufactured with 8mm toughened glass and offer the flexibility to open or close the space depending on the weather.
Bespoke specifications
The 5000mm x 4000mm glass room is fixed to the back of the house and includes two 150mm front posts that form the rest of the structure. The drainage is integrated into the front two posts, and the RAL 9005 Jet Black finish completes the modern aesthetic that the homeowners were looking for.
A contemporary and flexible addition
The finished installation is a great looking new space that feels connected to the home and leads the interiors out into the garden. The glass roof has ensured that no natural light is blocked from the property, and the sliding glass screens ensures that the space will be protected from the elements during inclement weather. A great and flexible addition to this new build home.
