The owners of this luxury home in Harrogate have used Express Bi-Folding Doors products on two previous occasions including Express manufacturing and installing all the doors, windows, and skylights in what they now consider their forever home.
The home is stunning with floor to ceiling glass throughout and an open plan kitchen diner that leads out onto a large patio that previously housed an outdoor BBQ and bar. When the homeowners heard about our pergolas, they quickly visited our Leeds showroom to explore the outdoor solutions we offer.
Suitably impressed with our range of bioclimatic pergolas, we visited the home to formulate the best solution for the space. The homeowners decided to convert the existing outdoor bar area into a gym, and we measured for a huge, interlinked Selene pergola to provide a link between the home and garden and to provide a flexible and sheltered space for an outdoor kitchen and dining area.
The result is a very complex pergola installation but it’s a great example of the bespoke solutions that we can offer our customers. The Selene pergola is huge at four metres by nine metres, and it’s been measured down to the millimetre to integrate perfectly into this outside space.
The large structure is a four-post pergola that is also connected to the house wall. Rather than sitting in the centre of the nine-metre length of the pergola the central columns are 3.7metres from the house to allow more unobstructed space within the outdoor kitchen area, and the posts lines up perfectly with the brickwork and steps that lead onto the lawn area.
The patio itself is pitched so all four legs are different heights to ensure that the roof itself is completely level ensuring that the louvres open and close beautifully.
The Selene pergola is a two toned with the roof louvers powder coated to RAL 7047 Tele grey to match the house render.
The pergola itself is RAL 7021 Black Grey to match the Express aluminium doors and windows.
The additional custom features include the bronze tinted glass sliding doors, which screen off the front of the pergola and mirror the glass sliding doors in the house to create a corridor affect.
Feature LED lighting sits all the way around the permitter of the pergola and runs down the two central columns to create a standout feature that looks fantastic, particularly as the day transitions into night.
The roof louvres can be controlled and operated either by remote control or by an APP, and all the bioclimatic features of the pergola have been integrated into this properties home automation system.
We also supplied the luxury outdoor dining set, we know that accessories are key to creating the perfect outside space, so we offer a range of exclusive outdoor furniture than be viewed in our Leeds showroom.
The pergola is literally connected to the house so acts like an extension of the home. Positioned above the glass sliding doors the pergola makes the kitchen feel even larger as the interior space leads straight out and into the newly sheltered area. The ambient lighting within the pergola enhances the night scene within the kitchen, while the light coloured louvres and ability to open them ensures that the kitchen still benefits from natural light and doesn’t feel dark or closed in.
You can find all the specifications of the pergola detailed below:
This home is a great example of open plan and inside, outside living and when you see the full height glazing, outdoor gym, and hot tub you can see why the homeowners were looking for a pergola.
The pergola is now the focal point within the outside space; it has literally created a bridge between inside and outside and connected the home to the outdoor gym and garden.
It’s a great space to enjoy outdoor cooking, a relaxing space to enjoy in the morning and summer evenings and it takes all the unpredictability out of the British weather. Even on overcast or drizzly days, the homeowners can go ahead with their outdoor gatherings as planned because if the weather does turn, they’re all still fully protected and can still enjoy themselves outside.
Whether you’re looking for a small freestanding 3m x 3m pergola or a huge multi-post, house connected pergola like this one, our pergolas are beautiful architectural features that look great and can be used and enjoyed for twelve months of the year.
All our pergolas are bespoke, structurally sound, and available with a range of features and accessories that will not only extend your space out into the garden, but make your outside space feel like a key part of your home.
