The owners of this detached property on the outskirts of Leeds decided to redesign their outside space to allow them to spend more time outdoors and in the garden. With a sprawling garden set over two levels, they decided to build a rectangular pad, next to a power supply to allow them to create their perfect outside space.
The designs included a low wall with beautifully finished perimeter plants, steps leading up to the lawn and back down to a porcelain tiled base where a feature pergola will sit as the focal point within the design, creating a new space for relaxing, lounging and dining.
With a clear vision in mind the homeowners began looking for a bioclimatic pergola and visited our showroom in Leeds to explore our pergola options. They opted for the sleek looks of our Selene pergola and decided that its architectural features would add the perfect final addition to their expertly designed and newly constructed exterior space.
The Selene pergola looks beautiful and integrates wonderfully into the space. Sat to the side of the house it is accessible from both the front and the back of the property and acts as the central zone between the two.
The 7016 RAL colour compliments the house & wall render, plus the porcelain tiles perfectly and is without question a dominant and contemporary architectural feature within the landscaped garden.
Privacy is often a main consideration when people choose one of our pergolas and because the pergola is placed near the boundary and in a roadside position, aluminium shutters were chosen across the rear elevation to make the pergola feel closed off and private.
The screens look great, give added weather protection and close off any outward view to give privacy from the neighbours and passers-by. The shutters can be fixed in place, or are available sliding, which is perfect if you want the flexibility to open up the space or to clean and maintain the garden, whilst having the option of completely closing in bad weather or for privacy.
The flexible and open feel of the pergola is enhanced by sliding glass screens that sit across the front and side elevations. The side elevations contain four sliding glass panels, while the front and wider elevation consists of five pieces of glass.
The panels all slide so can be stacked on either side to make the pergola feel like a completely open structure. When closed they offer fantastic weather protection from wind and rain and ensure that the pergola can be used long into the winter.
The glass screens are available with or without an edging profile. In this installation the homeowners opted for the edging profile, which colour matches with the rest of the pergola, adding to its contemporary appearance. Plus, the edging helps to prevent dogs, birds and potentially children or even unsuspecting family members from running into the glass.
The bioclimatic features within a pergola are essential if you plan on using the space for twelve months of the year. The features within this Selene pergola are detailed below including the two heaters and ambient lighting.
The completed project is fantastic and the homeowners are absolutely over the moon with the finished results.
The design looks wonderful, with the pergola acting as the central feature within the sunken walled in area, which has been beautifully finished with slate, greenery and water features creating a truly exceptional outdoor space.
The lighting detail in and around the pergola makes it look absolutely stunning at night and the heaters and side enclosures ensure that the pergola can be used throughout the year. The structure will not only house but protect the outdoor furniture and dining set, meaning that the scene is set for tranquil relaxation, quality family time and social gatherings twelve months of the year.
Our Selene pergola is not just a piece of outdoor furniture; it is pivotal to the garden design and has created an additional space that feels like a key part of the home.
Our pergolas are completely bespoke and can be designed to integrate perfectly into your outdoor space.
