Background
This property boasts superb finishing details from the inside and out, including a porcelain tile patio area enclosed by a contemporary boundary wall with LED lighting that leads up to the garden lawn. To complete the space the homeowners decided to look for a bespoke and premium bioclimatic pergola to maximise their use of the space and subsequently made the short trip up the M1 to visit our Leeds showroom.
It was during this visit that they fell in love the Winsol climate pergola, a fully weathertight louvre roof pergola that is available with beautiful custom features, many of which were chosen as their dream pergola was configured.
What we delivered
We measured a bespoke pergola to integrate perfectly into the outdoor space. Positioned between the home’s French doors, the patio boundary wall and adjacent to the neighbour’s fence line, the pergola acts as a standout feature without overbearing the space.
Weathertight louvres
The main benefit of the climate louvre system is that the rotating louvres close tight against an internal gutter system. Most pergolas have a substantial gap between the louvres and the internal gutter, the fact that the opening element closes tight against the gutters provides a much more effective weather seal to create the most weathertight opening roof pergola on the market.
Aesthetically it looks superior too, creating much more of a room affect when the roof is closed and most importantly it also means that the pergola can be utilised more, even in strong winds and rain.
Built-in speakers & sockers
The custom options within our pergolas are superb and these homeowners took full advantage of those options. All four structural posts have functionality contained within them, built -in speakers within two posts, power sockets in two posts, perfect for charging your phone or bringing a TV into the space, and our standard push button operation is integrated within a post also.
The pergola can be controlled by remote control and a smart phone app called Casambi that we include with all our Winsol pergolas, but in busy households the push button operation is a simple and effortless way to open and close the roof, lift and lower the zip blinds and control the ambient lighting.
Concealed zip blinds
Zip blinds are a popular feature within our outdoor solutions and one of the great details within the Winsol pergolas is that the blinds completely disappear into the structure when they’re raised.
This pergola contains four zip blinds in each elevation but they’re only visible when they begin to drop, as if from nowhere. This fantastic architectural detail minimises the sightlines and retains a sleek look when the blinds are open, while offering smooth and seamless privacy, plus weather protection at the touch of a button.
Pergola Specifications
The pergola stands at 2500mm tall because it is positioned only 200mm away from the neighbouring garden. The same 200mm gap has been retained across the small boundary wall with the pergola measuring 2360mm wide and 4000mm long to sit neatly and compactly within the space.
The RAL colour of both the pergola and opening louvres is RAL 7038 Agate Grey to match the existing doors and windows within the house.

The perfect finishing touch
The outdoor space is now complete, it contains premium details everywhere but feels understated thanks to the clever choice of materials and the matching RAL colour of the pergola and the homes doors and windows.
The contemporary wooden fence adds to the warm feel and the clever use of light throughout the boundaries and the pergola continue the same theme. The light-coloured tiles and cushions have created a space that feels inviting, all pulled together by the pergola that stands proud as the shield that will allow the space to be used and enjoyed long into the winter.
The built-in functionality is of course the main benefit, a space that can be adapted, enjoyed and used in different ways. A beautiful architectural structure that is now an integral part of both the home and the garden.
