Background
The owners of this luxury home in Leeds already benefitted from an extensive and impressive outdoor space but in the summer of 2026, they decided to enhance it further. Their plans included purchasing an outdoor BBQ & kitchen station, plus a bioclimatic pergola to act as the central feature that would bring the whole exterior space together.
Already aware of our famous showroom they made the short journey across Leeds to explore our outdoor options and decided that the Winsol climate pergola would be the perfect solution for their home.
What we delivered
We attended the property and measured for a bespoke pergola to sit perfectly within the outdoor patio and new BBQ area. The surrounding hedge had a cut out where the patio feeds into the lawned garden so it was decided that would become the central point where the pergola would be positioned, sat centrally between home and garden. We also discussed and confirmed all the bespoke options and features available and installed the beautiful multifunctional structure that is detailed below:
Woodgrain louvres
One of the standout features within this installation is the woodgrain louvre’s, which appear in a natural wood finish. The louvres however are aluminium with a veneer foil on both sides to create a wooden appearance that replaces the problematic movement and maintenance associated with wood for the performance and longevity of aluminium.
The fact that the climate louvres sit and close tight against the internal gutter means that the louvre roof not only looks great whether it is open or closed, but is also the most weathertight pergola available on the market. A stunning louvre roof pergola that complements the traditional stone built home perfectly.
Concealed zip blinds
Zip blinds are a great feature within our pergolas as they provide privacy, weather protection, provide shade from the sun and can even be used as an insect screen. This pergola contains zip blinds in each elevation. but you’d never know unless they’re down because one of the great details within the Winsol pergolas is that the blinds completely disappear into the structure when they’re raised.
This fantastic feature minimises the sightlines at the head of the structure and ensures a clean look when the blinds are open, plus the real wow factor of the blinds seemingly dropping from nowhere when they are smoothly lowered at the push of a button. We also include a win sensor that will automatically raise the blinds in storm conditions to ensure they’re never damaged in strong winds.
Built in functionality
This pergola includes perimeter LED lighting, an integrated heater, speakers within two posts, a power socket within one post and push buttons within a post to open and close the roof and the blinds, as well as control the lighting and speakers.
The functionality can also be controlled by a smart phone app called Casambi and a remote control, but in busy households with children such as this, the push button operation within the posts is a simple and effortless way to enjoy the multi-functional outdoor space.
Pergola specifications
The pergola is 5000mm wide by 4500mm and stands at 2500mm high and sits perfectly between a step on the lower-level patio and the outdoor BBQ.
The RAL colour is 7016 Anthracite Grey in a hard-wearing textured finish, and the roof louvres have a natural woodgrain veneered finish.

The central feature
The home and outdoor space was already stunning, but the addition of our pergola feels like the final piece in the puzzle. The structure is bold and modern somewhat in contrast to the stone-built home and landscape gardens but the decision to include woodgrain louvres makes it a contemporary twist that elevates the space.
The softer wooden appearance complements the wooden fascias within the glazed gable, the wooden BBQ area and the wicker outdoor furniture to being a cohesive and well-designed feel to the whole outside space.
The benefits aren’t limited to the great looks of the pergola; it is now an outdoor social hub that can be adapted as the seasons change. It will protect the outdoor furniture throughout the winter while allowing the homeowners to use and enjoy the space. While in the spring and summer it is the centre piece, a striking architectural feature that is the focal point within the outdoor space, exactly as the homeowners intended.
