This luxury home in Stockport is a great example of how our bioclimatic pergolas will act as the central feature within a beautifully designed outside space. The rear of the property contains a set of bi-folding doors that allows the home to extend out into the garden onto a raised tiled patio area.

A distinctive architectural feature
The large pergola is an impressive 6m x 4m and a total height of 2500mm to satisfy building regulations as the structure is sat just 250mm from the neighbour’s boundary. By placing the structure by the boundary, the pergola acts as the central zone to the outside space. A private and secluded oasis that can be enjoyed regardless of the weather.
It’s the perfect place for a morning coffee or an evening drink, the ideal setting for a family meal, get together or just a quiet place to observe a busy family BBQ. It’s a striking feature that compliments the outside space beautifully, while adding the flexibility and functionality to make it feel like a special part of the home.
Fixed aluminium side and rear panels
The proximity to the boundary is key to this pergolas design as the full rear and side elevation is made up of fixed aluminium panels with horizontal aluminium profiles which provide both an architectural detail and full weather protection and privacy. The anthracite grey RAL colour allows this panelling to blend into the same-coloured contemporary fence behind to create the illusion that the pergola is connected and built into to the boundary fence.
A theme that continues with the floor, as the tiles within the pergola are a different colour to the rest of the patio which adds to the concealed and sunken feel to this pergolas design.
Frameless glass sliding doors
The front and side elevations contain glass sliding doors to offer additional weather protection. The glass acts as a weather screen and all five panels can slide to each side to offer complete flexibility should the winds change. We offer our frameless sliding doors with or without a contemporary aluminium edging profile.
These homeowners opted for the edging profile, which colour matches with the rest of the pergola, adds to its contemporary appearance, and helps to prevent dogs, birds and potentially children from running into the glass.
